Happy Father's Day! Today we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, and mentors across Maine who lead, support, and care for their families. A special thank you to the dedicated fathers within our own True North Anesthesia team. We appreciate everything you do!

"Can I even drink water before surgery?"

While you often must stop eating solid food 6 to 8 hours before surgery, modern anesthesia guidelines often allow you to drink clear liquids—like water, apple juice, or black coffee—up to two hours before you arrive. However, "clear" is the key word! Anything with milk, cream, or pulp counts as food. Your Nurse Anesthesiologist will give you a strict cut-off time to keep your lungs perfectly safe while you sleep.

🌊 Today is World Oceans Day! Here in Maine, the ocean is a defining part of our culture, our economy, and our lifestyle. In fact, many of our Nurse Anesthesiologists chose to practice here specifically to be close to the coast.
