Recently I was tasked with fixing the mechanism of this Eames-style chair by Charlton. There was squeaking when reclining and the chair felt loose on its base. I searched everywhere for diagrams and after-market parts and found nothing. After some further investigating I realized that the reclining mechanism worked perfectly and all the issues seemed to originate with how the chair’s shaft was fitting into its base. Once I fixed that, the looseness and squeaking vanished. I made a four-part video of the process in case anyone runs into a similar situation.
