Principal Mo
A day in the life of a principal… but make it chaotic and cute.
🎁 Gifts for staff
High fives before 8am
Morning arrival energy on 100
🎤 Student-led assembly
And yes, I was the loudest one clapping
🛒 Cart roaming through the building
Because visibility > sitting in the office
🚨 Stopping students from stealing my stuff
Why are y’all like this
🏆 Student incentive time
Celebrating wins like it’s the Super Bowl
👟 Fit check in between meetings
Because leadership and style can coexist
💅🏽 And somehow… a nail appointment
Because self-care is scheduled, not accidental
Educating ain’t easy.
But it is worth it.
If you’ve ever had a “how did I do all that in one day?” kind of day… drop a 💼 in the comments.
Save this for the principal who lives 12 lives before 3pm.
Pro Tip: the more you pretend to be clueless, the more information you learn. Happy investigating! 🫠
What’s your pro tip?
Let’s be honest…
Somewhere along the way we were taught that principals have to be serious all the time.
Serious face. Serious tone. Serious energy. Almost like smiling too much might cancel out the authority.
The crazy things is… I used to believe that.
I thought if I laughed too loud, dressed up for spirit week, or danced in the hallway, people wouldn’t take me seriously. (Im sure that this is difficult to believe)
After spending a lot of time in this role, here’s what I learned.
Your school community don’t remember how serious you looked. They remember how safe they felt. How seen they felt. How you showed up.
💥You can run a tight ship and still laugh in the hallway.
💥You can hold high expectations and still bring joy into the building.
💥Leadership does not require a permanent frown.
So here’s my question.
What’s a principal myth you once believed?
Drop it in the comments. Let’s break a few of them together.

Sometimes your best is not good enough.
You planned it.
You prayed over it.
You tried to hold everyone in mind.
And it still did not land.
Leadership will humble you like that.
But here is what I know.
Integrity over applause. Every time.
If you are carrying a heavy decision right now, you are not alone. (Especially at the end of the school year)
Save this for the day it feels personal.
Engage: When was a time your best still felt like it missed?
My babies are turning 11! Please help me wish them a happy birthday!
Time really is flying. HBD, M&M!
It’s May.
Which means I am one minor inconvenience away from becoming a blanket burrito.
The kind where you walk in the house.
Drop the bag.
Don’t even pretend to be productive.
Just wrap up like a human Chipotle order and disappear for 45 minutes.
May tired hits different.
It’s not first-week-of-school tired.
It’s not December-before-break tired.
It’s “we’ve been holding it down since August and we are still smiling in hallways” tired.
So yes….Blanket burrito.
Every👏🏽Single👏🏽Day👏🏽
No guilt… No productivity… Just rest.
If you’re in May survival mode too, drop a 🛌 so I know it’s not just me.
It’s the weekennnddd, baby!
Got to have some fun with one of my scholars afterschool.

Let’s be honest for a second…
Schools are slowly becoming social service centers. There. I said it.
We feed.
We clothe.
We assist with hygiene.
We are now we are helping with potty training in some classrooms…
Yet, teachers are still expected to drive academic growth.
Don’t get me wrong… Kids deserve care.
But educators also deserve clarity.
At what point do we protect instruction@and name the things pulling teachers away from educating?
Save this if you feel the shift too.
Share it with someone who has said this in the hallway.
Happy Mother’s Day to the principals who do both.
They lead a whole building…
and still make it to the recital.
They run data meetings…
and still run bedtime routines.
They solve staff conflict at 10 a.m.
and sibling conflict at 7 p.m.
They carry radios.
They carry snacks.
They carry the emotional weight of hundreds of kids.
And then go home and carry their own.
Superheroes do exist.
They just answer to “Mom” and “Principal.”
To the mothers leading schools and leading at home…
we see you.
We respect you.
We are grateful for you.
Drop a 💐 if you know a principal mom who deserves her flowers today.

Teacher Appreciation Week.
And I don’t say that lightly.
I’ve watched teachers show up sick but still smiling.
I’ve watched them reteach a lesson three different ways because one student still didn’t get it.
I’ve watched them carry things that never show up in the lesson plan.
So yes. We’re celebrating.
But let’s be clear about something.
Appreciation is not just snacks in the lounge.
It’s not just a themed day and a cute flyer.
Real appreciation looks like:
Protected time.
Clear priorities.
Leadership that backs you when it gets hard.
Fewer extra things.
More trust.
It looks like asking, “What do you need?”
And then actually doing something about the answer.
To every teacher in the building holding it down for kids every single day…
We see you.
We value you.
We are better because of you.
Save this as a reminder.
