Akua Allrich is a celebrated jazz vocalist, composer, educator, and cultural curator from Washington, D.C., known for electrifying live performances and her genre-blending sound she calls “Jazz+.” Rooted in Pan-African rhythms and the traditions of the global African diaspora, her work uplifts Black women’s voices and indigenous legacies, and carries a lineage of truth, love, and empowerment through music.

This evening weaves together vibrant Pan-African sound, reimagined favorites made iconic by Nina Simone and Miriam Makeba, and a deeply personal tribute honoring Akua’s father, Agyei Akoto. Since 2008, Akua’s tribute presentation has moved audiences with music grounded in freedom, self-expression, and African expression.
