Me: What? No!
Student: But you have big muscles!
Me: Oh! You said strong!

New day! New intervention! I am
now teaching the SIPPS (systematic instruction in phonological awareness, phonics and sight words). Like all interventions I use, this intervention is evidence based and uses an explicit, systematic routine to decoding, syllables, sight words, and reading fluency. It is great for my more advanced students!

Hi friends! As many of you know, I am passionate about education. I’m a special educator with Baltimore County public schools and have run my own tutoring business, Alter Tutoring, for nearly 14 years. I am certified and special education for grades one through eight, early childhood for age 3 through grade 3. I am trained in Orton Gillingham, Wilson Reading, Visualizing and Verbalizing, and LETRS. My agency also includes tutoring to specialize in a wide range of academic areas for grades K-12.

The best part of my job is when I’ve worked myself out of a job. We have “graduated” students and have room to accept more clients. If you are interested in tutoring now, over the summer, or in the future, I’d love to connect!
