The BJC and the Herbert H. and Irma B. Risch Memorial Endowment Fund were proud to help sponsor the 2026 Baltimore Immigration Summit. Frank Risch, who created the fund in honor of his parents, offered powerful opening remarks about the contributions that immigrants have made to the United States throughout our country’s history.

June 4th marked international Holocaust Survivor Day, a day in which we honor and celebrate the survivors who teach us lessons in strength, courage, and resilience. Thank you to Jewish Community Services for inviting the Baltimore Jewish Council to join in on this year’s celebration, featuring a beautiful luncheon and a fun, musical performance. We were honored to be able to celebrate these inspiring members of our community

Yesterday we had two of our priority bills signed into law by Governor Wes Moore - SB140/HB216 Criminal Law-Benefits Exploitation sponsored by Senator Chris West and Aaron Kaufman and HB14 County Boards of Education - Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation - Information Collection and Reporting Requirements sponsored by Linda K. Foley with lots support by Senator Ben Brooks, Senator Shelly Hettleman , Jared Solomon and Delegate Eric Ebersole Thank you to all the elected officials and partners who helped get these bills passed.

Leadership of the BJC and The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore visited our congressional delegation Tuesday as part of the Jewish security lobby day organized by Jewish Federations of North America. Thanks to Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth, Senator Van Hollen, and the staffs of Congressman Johnny Olszewskj and Senator Alsobrooks for hearing our concerns about security for our community.
