My philosophy has always been, design a space with plants with intention and creativity. But for someone that had never had a garden before, my best way to approach helping to design ours, was to treat it like I was designing with plants indoors.
That meant using planters to really make the space shine. Here, I used a row of planters to create a pathway around the deck The boxwoods could have gone directly into the ground, but elevating them helped to create another dimension to garden. I potted a hydrangea tree, lavender and a juniper Pom Pom in large terra cotta pots because whenever I saw plants outside in large planters, it reminded me of images I saw of Italian gardens.
For me, a lot of what I’ve learned styling plants indoors has shaped how I design outdoors. Because whether it’s inside or out, plants deserve more than a place to grow. They deserve a place to shine. This was possible with the help of , who gifted us with these beautiful planters to style our garden! 💚🌿✨
You need a hug? I’m here to help. Well, in a sense. You might have killed your monstera but don’t let that get you down. Here’s a little plant therapy to help get you through this tough time. 😉💚🌿
But let’s be honest, you probably didn’t but thought it was dead because the flowers died. Here’s some PLANT THERAPY to help get through it 💚🙏🏾😉
There are gardens, and then there are places like this. Places where every clipped topiary, winding path, blooming rose, and towering tree feels intentional. Places that remind you that gardening is more than just planting. That it’s a moment to practice patience, revive your imagination, and watch as care is brought to life.
I frequently visit for inspiration, as I’m working on my own garden. But every time I leave with something even better: a renewed appreciation for what can happen when people dedicate themselves to nurturing beauty and see the art in it. If you make your way to Maryland, make sure to take a moment, and let your hair down here.
