Forever my favorite Queen, Anne Boleyn. On this day in 1536, she paid the ultimate price for being ahead of her time. She was a brilliant and headstrong woman. She stuck her neck out for Henry at a time when he needed her most. She was not a tart, she was smart and tried playing the long game. Sadly, her inability to produce a surviving male heir didn't help her situation. She also had enemies at court who conspired to have her removed in the only way they knew how, by proclaiming she committed treason. She wasn't even offered the option to be sent to a nunnery, they wanted her totally gone, as well anyone who may vouch for her.
Much like today, if you're a brilliant women in an area dominated by men, eventually they'll try to take you down or bury/steal your accomplishments. Sadly, that hasn't changed much in almost 500 years 😒
Do I think that deep down, Henry knew he made a mistake? Yes, and I think he lived with until his last breath, but never made it known to anyone else. I think if Jane Seymour had not produced a make heir, his love for her too would have faded. This is just my personal opinion on the matter, not historical fact.
🥃 pour one out for this amazing queen!
*Complete ensemble made by me last fall. Using patterns, notes, and books by . It was the most ambitious project I've done to date, mostly hand sewn. Let's face it, I used the machine for those straight skirt seams that would have bored me to death to do by hand 🤣 You can go back in my feed to see posts about the construction process.

Happy Nurses' Week! A special thank you to my infusion center nurses for being amazing and stellar people! They are so empathetic and sweet and make my time there just a little bit better with their smiles and attitude. They are a ray of sunshine in a time when I need it most.
To anyone reading this who is also a nurse, thank you for everything you do, every day. The sacrifices you make, and the things you put up with. I want you to know you are appreciated.
