We have a particular commitment to the Pit Bull, and aim to raise awareness and education about this very misunderstood breed of dog. We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals and animal control, advocating for any animal in need. Please cons

📢PSA: If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws. 🐾☀️

We’re already seeing dogs being walked on hot blacktop, and honestly... it has us scratching our heads. 😢

A dog's paw pads are tough, but they're not heat-proof. On warm days, asphalt can reach temperatures that cause painful burns in just minutes.

🌡️ Air Temp = Pavement Temp

77°F outside = pavement can reach 125°F
87°F outside = pavement can reach 143°F
95°F outside = pavement can reach 155°F

At those temperatures, burns can happen FAST.

🐾 The 7-Second Test
Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds.

If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws.

✅ Walk early in the morning or after sunset
✅ Stick to grass, dirt trails, or shaded areas
✅ Bring water for both you and your dog
✅ Watch for signs of discomfort: limping, refusing to walk, licking paws, or darkened/red paw pads

Remember: your dog can't tell you their feet are burning. They trust you to make that decision for them. 💛

Let's keep our pups safe this summer and help spread the word. A quick schedule change can prevent a painful injury.

🐶 Share this post so more dogs can enjoy summer without burnt paws. 🐾☀️

💔 IT'S FRIDAY MORNING, AND WINTER IS STILL WAITING...she needs your share!

While many of us are looking forward to the weekend, Winter is hoping someone will see her story and give her a place to belong.

Due to changes in her foster family's circumstances, Winter urgently needs a new foster or adopter. We currently have no open foster homes, and we're desperately hoping the right person sees her in time.

At 6 years old, Winter has so much love left to give.

She may be deaf, but that has never stopped her from being an incredible companion. Winter doesn't hear "I love you," but she feels it in every gentle touch, every cuddle, and every moment spent by your side. Her world may be quiet, but her love is anything but.

This sweet girl is house-trained, crate-trained, and low-to-medium energy. She's perfectly content with a walk or two a day, followed by a long nap next to her favorite human.

Winter would do best as the only pet, but if you're looking for a loyal best friend who thinks you're the greatest thing on earth, she just might be your perfect match.

Please don't let Winter's story get lost in the crowd.

She's not asking for much.

Just a soft bed.
A loving home.
And someone who will choose her.
