Meet Maxwell! ❤️
Maxwell is a 7-year-old absolute sweetheart whose joy for life is impossible to miss. When he arrived at our shelter, he was as happy as could be—pulling on the leash, wagging his tail, and eager to make new friends. Hidden by thick fur and a happy face was a very thick laceration and infection from an embedded bandana. The same kind animals get after a groom. At some point in his life, Maxwell appears to have been loved and cared for.
Despite being in tremendous pain from the deep wound, Maxwell never let it steal his gentle spirit. In fact, he would pull against the leash—even pulling on the very injury that hurt him—just to get closer for pets and affection.
Dogs like Maxwell remind us why we do this work. No matter what life has handed him, he still greets every person with trust, kindness, and hope.
Maxwell is now healed and we are committed to helping him find the family he longs for.
Please send Maxwell your well wishes as he begins his journey toward recovery. We think this resilient boy has many happy days ahead of him. 🐾❤️

Meet Jango! Located in Maryland, Jango is a big (80+ pounds) people oriented guy. At just 2 years old, gentle Jango found himself in an overcrowded animal shelter and despite being a wonderful dog, was placed on the “urgent” list. ASR pulled him from the shelter and gave him the opportunity every dog deserves - a chance to be loved and cherished.
Jango leans in for affection and really enjoys human attention. He’s house trained too!

Just dropping this adorable face into your Monday feed! This is Chase who is located in Maryland. At 2 years old and a solid 83 pounds, Chase is smart, athletic, and has tons of potential. A working line German Shepherd, Chase is looking for a home with someone experienced, who understands the breed and who is ready to provide structure and continued guidance. We think he’d also do best in a home with children over 10 years old.
