This month, Made in Baltimore is spotlighting Black-owned business members by honoring the Black voices and historical figures that influence their work.

For New Vintage by Sam, inspiration lies in the tension between the old and the new, drawing from the bold truth-telling of James Baldwin, the soft yet sharp wisdom of Maya Angelou, and the radically honest, community-centered voice of Amanda Seales.

Each of these figures showed what it means to evolve out loud: refusing to shrink, extending grace to themselves, and meeting their moment with clarity, courage, and care. That unapologetic energy, rooted in truth, growth, and self-expression, shapes both Sam’s creative practice and perspective.
