This morning we continued our study through the Gospel of John with Part 13: **Turning Over Tables**.

In John 2, Jesus enters the Temple and finds that the place meant to point people to sacrifice, worship, and the mercy of God had been turned into a marketplace. Man had cluttered up the message of the sacrifice with money, religion, pride, and self-effort.

Jesus turned over the tables because He was clearing the picture and bringing the focus back to the Lamb of God.

The Cross reminds us that salvation is not something we buy, earn, or prove ourselves worthy of. It is the gift of God through the finished work of Christ.

**Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.**

Last week at Crouch Mesa Community Church, we continued in our study through the Gospel of John with Part 7 – Behold The Lamb of God from John 1:29–34.

John the Baptist’s message was never really about John. It was about Christ.

He pointed people away from dead religion, away from self-righteousness, and away from trusting in outward forms, and he pointed them to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.

That is still the message we need today.

Religion cannot remove sin. Ritual cannot remove sin. Good intentions cannot remove sin. Only Jesus can.

In this message we looked at: John’s call to prepare the way of the Lord, why Jesus was baptized, and what it means that Christ is the Lamb of God

Thank God, salvation is not a reset of our record so we can try harder. In Christ, God has dealt with sin fully through the cross.
