The BFI London Film Festival (LFF) 2023 marked its highest in-person attendance in five years with 195,665 attendees, surpassing the pre-pandemic 2019 figure of 190,000. The festival's occupancy was at 90%, with 54% of ticket bookers being new to LFF, highlighting the attraction of a new generation of filmgoers. Additionally, 225,577 people participated online, and delegate numbers rose by 12%. George Amponsah’s "Gassed Up" won the audience award for best feature, while Chloe Abrahams’ "The Taste Of Mango" claimed the documentary audience award. Other notable awards included "Festival Of Slaps" for best British work and "Murals" for best immersive/XR. The festival showcased 252 titles from 92 countries, with 39% of the works by female and non-binary filmmakers. The best film award in official competition went to Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s "Evil Does Not Exist"
