Sowing the seeds of healthy eating~ research shows that learners who grow their own veggies are 5 times more likely to eat them [and we mean eat them…right then…lol]. 🥕

Our owls are in the garden with our amazing Mr Corbin, working around the moon cycles, to plant and nurture, so we can create a “garden to lunch plate”- type culture at our schoolhouse. We typically move produce to the kitchen so we can all enjoy but this round went home with our children, to show what happens when we tend to our garden. 🥕

Our students loooove exploring in our garden and these beauties deserve a permanent spot on our feed. What magic it is to be alive, and to flourish + learn in nature. 🦋

• gratitude + happiness • 🦋
::
Creating happy, healthy childhood + schoolhouse memories will absolutely set our learners up for success in life. 🦋
::
Here some ways we love contributing to the long-term happiness of our students:
::
• We create enriching experiences for outdoor play, in our creek, in the garden or on our TreeWeaves 🐝

• We offer Z E R O screen time for youth under 10yo. Inspiring our students to create with their hands [and imagination] is key 🐝

• We share Gratitude daily. Saying ‘thank you’, and talking about what we are grateful for, are daily practices 🐝

• We hold high but reasonable expectations: these can have a big impact on our students willingness to challenge themselves. How we do it? Inspiring them, by asking questions, and by setting goals for our collective community growth 🐝

• We eat together, joining our learners while modeling healthy lifestyle choices. This includes creating healthy meals, smoothies or juices, together 🐝

• We practice movement. This includes breath work, yoga, grounding into nature, and sometimes sound 🐝

• We help other people who are less fortunate than we are. May it be via volunteer work, or creating homeless bags for distribution, our learners are always ready to support anyone less fortunate 🐝
