We’re off to a great start this week!

The Travis County Reentry Resources team kicked off our inaugural Reentry programming and training with the SMART program. Our team led sessions on being trauma-informed and focusing on healing, the power of peer support and breaking cycles, and building confidence through owning your story and strengthening interview skills. This works lays a foundation for identifying what is necessary for a successful Reentry.
Cross department collaboration is a priority at Travis County as we work through several intercepts on the Sequential Intercept Model. Letting evidence based best practices guide our way to deliver effective programming and services.
At the same time, the other half of our team was out at Austin Transitional Center’s job fair, hosting a table and sharing information about our program and the services we offer. We do this work best when we do it together!
Proud of the energy, impact, and dedication our team continues to bring into the community!

Reentry Now | Community
collaboration matters

Recently, a client who successfully completed the program through a local institution reached out needing additional community support during a critical transition.

Through collaboration and teamwork, the Travis County Reentry Program, alongside our partners at Sunrise Navigation Center, stepped in to ensure he could safely move forward securing a Greyhound bus pass to prevent homelessness and support a stable transition.

But reentry doesn’t stop at logistics.

During the trip to the bus station, we made sure his immediate needs were met, a warm meal, snacks for the road, and the dignity every person deserves when moving into their next chapter. Because how someone transitions matters.

That support made it possible for him to reunite with his daughter after more than 20 years in the system. He later shared an emotional message of gratitude, asking that his appreciation be passed along to everyone who played a role in his journey.

During the drive, he spoke openly about how meaningful it was to be surrounded by people who genuinely care.

This is reentry beyond workforce development. It’s about stability. It’s about dignity. It’s about connection. It’s about meeting people where they are especially in moments that can change everything.
When community partners come together with compassion, it creates a domino effect of coordination, care, and commitment to second chances. One step. One partnership. One life.
