What happens when the ordinary world cracks—and something else slips in?

Join us for a short reading group exploring one of literature’s most enduring motifs: the child taken, lured, or transformed by malevolent forces. From Machen and Yeats to Lovecraft and Mark Fisher, we’ll trace how the weird and the eerie reveal evil’s unsettling proximity to everyday life. We’ll close with a discussion of Daniel Kolitz’s “The Goon Squad”—a haunting look at online subculture and influence.

📖 No prior expertise required—just curiosity and a willingness to read closely.
🗓 First Meeting: Feb 24, 2026 | 9:00–10:00 AM
👥 Open to all

Led by John Greil, law professor at UT Austin. RSVP link in bio!
