Todd Deatherage

“She’s Leaving Me” is off my first release on Summerbreak Records, a local Dallas label owned by Richard Winfield and Robert Jenkins, in 2001. It features Todd Pertll on bass and Steven Visneau Photography on drums. Since then, I’ve used this song as a show finale from everything to solo shows to The Merles. I usually use it to introduce the band and tell some silly anecdote or tall tale about them. The rhythm is part Jerry Reed and Sesame Street, and the vocals are part Hank/ wannabe Chris Isaak. Don’t think it’s about anyone specific, just thought it sounded cool at the time. But would I tell you if it was???😳
