I don’t know who I am without him right now.

A year postpartum and somehow I still don’t fully recognize myself. Not because I’m unhappy… honestly, I’ve never felt more full. Well, as long as I’m home with my baby bears, I am beaming.

But somewhere somehow, the girl who could walk into any room with confidence got lost…maybe even a bit panicked? I catch myself avoiding mirrors, dodging cameras, overthinking small talk, feeling anxious over things that not only came naturally before, but also realllly filled my cup.

And maybe other moms will understand this kind of contradiction… grieving pieces of yourself while not at all wanting to come out of my cocoon of comfort.

So lately I’ve just been giving myself grace and just going through the motions. Showing up to the events, saying yes to the girl time, trying to slowly find my autonomy and confidence again… even when all I really want is to rush home and snuggle my baby.

Maybe this is just a season, maybe it changes me forever. Either way, thank you for sticking around while I learn to love myself again… not only as a mama, but as Amber too.
