about 12,000 light years away the nebula is a cloud of gas spit out from a very hot bright star a the center known as a wolf rayet star. the star has a surface temperature many time that of the sun as rather then fusing hydrogen into helium its fusing helium and heavier elements into even heavier ones before it turns into a supernova at some time in the future.
