Summer is here! I find an easy option for bike rentals, just an 8 min walk from the house to Main. They have e-bikes, mountain and road, plus accessories. Your best deal is to reserve online in advance. Typically $60/day online. Daily rates go down for multiple days.

Austin still has a few dance hall bars. is one of my favorite located in East Austin (which is home to many amazing restaurants and bars)

Free dance lessons every weekend from 7-8 pm. Great live music and plenty of PBR (and all the other things).

A short walk from Casa SoCo is , a super chill, casual joint that is 70% outside and shaded. Great margs, tacos and ❤️ their kale Cesar salad. Super family friendly with a playground.

The back bar at is a great place to be aprés ski. Kind of an old school, saloon/mine town vibe, I really like 1) the Snack Menu which has variety (including escargot) and last time I was there, was a 2:1 happy hour deal and 2) they serve quartinos, 1/3 bottle of wine and have a great selection of French and Italian (my jam) along with American.

And! You can order giant steaks from them to take home and grill yourself. Fortunately Royal Tiger has a brand new gas grill so you can have the best of both worlds. Check out the “butcher shop” option on their website.
