Today, we remember media pioneer, philanthropist, and conservationist Ted Turner.

In 2015, the LBJ Foundation honored Turner with the Lady Bird Johnson Environmental Award in recognition of his extraordinary commitment to protecting our natural resources and preserving the beauty of our nation.

Through the Turner Foundation, he supported hundreds of environmental organizations and helped advance efforts to protect wildlife habitats, improve air and water quality, and inspire environmental stewardship for generations to come.

Today’s SCOTUS decision renders the 1965 Voting Rights Act effectively gutted. It was LBJ's proudest legislative accomplishment, allowing for free and fair elections and the prospect of a truly representative government.

Signed into law to remove barriers that prevented millions of Americans from exercising their right to vote, it remains one of the most significant pieces of civil rights legislation in American history.
