Founders & accepting the award for Director’s Choice Best Series: Dry Bones at film festival this weekend.

We had a great time at ARFF!!!!!! This film festival is a vibe! It’s exactly what we always wanted a film fest to be. Community. Friendships. Art. Support.

We were so happy to return to ARFF this year with two projects: Preserving Our Place and Dry Bones. We had 8 award nominations between the two projects, and two wins for Dry Bones. .watson_bijou.creole took Best Performer in a Series and we took the Directors Choice award. We were honored and humbled! ❤️

More than all that we hung out with friends we made last year and made tons of new friends and contacts this year! We hope to be back next year for the final ARFF.

We came to be on one our our favorite NOLA NPR shows by sheer luck. Our other co-founder, was at the Milton H. Latter and shouted “Hey! I like your hat” to a stranger. That stranger turned out to be the producer of the radio show (who had recently seen Roots of Fire and loved it!). Conversations were had (dogs were petted by children), and lo and behold, a few months later… the Lavoi’s are eating pizza at and chatting about what we do and what we love to make.
