There’s No Place Like Home
I started this quilt with a traditional Shaker House block, a design rooted in comfort and familiarity. By scaling it up and mirroring it, I wanted to transform something known into something unexpected—like a reflection in water or a doorway into another world. The stark contrast of true neon pink against black intensifies that effect, creating both a sense of warmth and an eerie glow, like a portal that invites you to step closer.
The use of solid neon pink is intentional; it’s a rare fabric in quilting and difficult to source, which makes its presence here feel both surprising and powerful. It challenges tradition while still being stitched from it.
For me, home is both a place and a memory, a grounding structure that can also shift and change in our imaginations. This quilt connects the threads of tradition, innovation, and personal story, embodying the spirit of modern quilting: honoring what came before while boldly reimagining what it can become.

This quilt is currently on display at as a part of ‘s exhibit “Connecting Threads”. Go check it out! The pink just pops in person in a way you can’t get through a camera lens. There are so many other great works there to see along with mine.

I made this mini for the swap! It was made especially for and I was so nervous that I was going off mark with the prompt. I knew I wanted a sweet color way with a bat and the was perfect! Then, of course this poem by “Batty”… 💖🦇💖
The baby bat
Screamed out in fright,
‘Turn on the dark,
I’m afraid of the light.’

I’ve been pretty bad about posting all the things I’ve been making, and all I have to say is I’M TRYING Y’ALL. 😂 I’ve been making things and then immediately putting them to use! After a week of steady use, I finally remembered to snap a pic of my by ! I fell in love with thjs new fabric line in the shop by with ⚰️⚰️⚰️ and needed to use it right away! Still practicing my skills (or lack thereof) and feeling good! My birthday is tomorrow (April 15/Tax Day) and I'm glad that I'm still learning new things and still have so many projects on the horizon. 💖
