What most people see as a problem — a sloped area next to a sports court — is usually just a design opportunity waiting to happen.

On this project, the client assumed this section of their yard couldn’t be used because of the grade change. After walking the site and taking measurements, we found it was only about an 18-inch slope — which opened the door for a simple, clean solution.

We designed and built a low-profile limestone retaining wall using 6x6 chopped limestone blocks with a blend of natural tones to match the existing stone around the property.

From there, we transformed the space into a functional hangout area by installing:
• 5/8” Black Star gravel for a clean, modern base
• Lueders stone slabs for stable seating + walking surfaces
• A leveled zone that makes the space comfortable, usable, and intentional

Now instead of wasted space, this area becomes an extension of the sports court — perfect for seating, relaxing, and actually enjoying the yard.

A lot of yards in Central Texas have slope issues… but most don’t need massive retaining walls — just the right design approach.

If you’ve got a space that feels “awkward” or unusable, there’s usually a way to unlock it.

CUSTOM STONE POOL DECK AND PATIO

We were brought on this project and in conjunction with a pool builder and another contractor specifically to handle the Hardscape in minor landscaping for this project

in this video week detail the use of crash limestone fill as opposed to recycled soil for a pool deck the advantages of utilizing this material as well as key features of this project involving 2 1/4 inch stone slabs for a patio area on the lower elevation and a main pool deck area

Other aspects of this project entail some decking involving a wraparound staircase, utilizing tracks, artificial turf, and crushed limestone xeriscape

Front elevation ✔️
Now we’re flipping the script and bringing the same energy to the back of the house.

We’ve completed the majority of the structural framing and siding on the front exterior remodel, and now we’re extending the concept to the rear — fabricating steel roof supports mounted directly to the home, framing lumber on top, and creating a clean, modern roof structure that feels intentional on both sides.

We also installed a rain chain system and incorporated 6x6 pressure-treated beams to create an open-air accent cover — almost like a small courtyard moment to fill the void and add dimension.

And yes… we took a break to throw fetch with the client’s dog.

“Gosh!” — Napoleon Dynamite would approve.
