Happy heavenly birthday ( #73) to my Mama today!
•
How fit that your birthday would fall on …
•
When you got sick, I was in first grade. Emotions at that age aren’t easy to articulate. While other kids were mastering the alphabet, I was learning to live with big-person fears of losing you. Harnessing great big emotions as a child, my outlet became art + dance. It’s on the dance floor, I left my worries, I felt the music and released the pain. Words I didn’t have the vocabulary for flowed out through muscle movement. At the canvas, I could draw away the life I dreamed of or the hope left that you’d recover. My tears, like paint drops, spilled on a canvas, telling the world how I really felt….things 6 year olds (and many adults) can’t productively express.
•
You see - art changed me. Art was my Grief Teacher. It listened patiently, letting me express things no adult could get out of me by way of words.
•
This is the reason I design.
This explains the passion I have for and their mission… creating a safe space for kids to heal and grow through art.
•
With we have designed and built art centers for and children…Cambodia, Thailand, Ghana, Honduras. These children, survivors of trafficking, must have the biggest, scariest feelings.
•
I know art healing works, and it’s easy to draw passion and life purpose in that work. When I look at the pictures of Glenda’s daughter (that’s me!) sharing that passion in far away lands, there’s nothing more life-giving from such a loss.
•
So on this , join me in donating to one of the organizations below. Join because you believe in the power of a crayon and a blank sheet of paper. A child’s future might just depend on it.

We've replaced the hardwood flooring, and while the furniture is all out of the house, it seems like the perfect window to go ahead and remove the popcorn ceilings.
Joey, being the-get-it-done type of spirit phoned a friend who owns a drywall company. They let him borrow THIS machine, and it made ALL the difference.
If you're considering removing your own popcorn ceilings, check out our suggestions and struggles.
It's a LOT of work.
Are we glad we did it? Tune in to find out.
Is Removing Popcorn Ceilings YOURSELF Worth it? We've replaced the hardwood flooring, and while the furniture is all out of the house, it seems like the perfect window to go ahead and remove the popcorn ce...
