“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen!” (Matthew 6:13)

We will never find rest and usefulness until we acknowledge His Lordship. This is why Jesus included this final movement in His model prayer. When we have prayed for everything that God directs, we must come to this humble benediction:

Jesus took twelve men and taught them how to pray. They came from different backgrounds, education and experiences. They all had different giftings and abilities. But He knew they would not be effective if they did not learn how to live in unceasing communion with the Father. This was how He lived while on earth and it was how they must live. And then He used them to change the world!

Because of His gracious instruction, everyone—just like the Apostles—can learn how to pray! Prayer can move from a duty to a joy. From ineffectiveness to effective, fervent prayers that accomplish much. From routine experiences to the most important communion of our lives.
