What helps people feel safe enough to take initiative at your workplace?

For a long time, I believed that growth meant achieving more: a bigger role, more responsibility, the next prestigious project.

While those things can be meaningful, I eventually realized they never brought the kind of fulfillment I was searching for.

A workshop in a Bolivian mine reminded me why.

Watching a group of young professionals learn that leadership isn't about proving yourself, but about serving the people in front of you, reinforced something I continue to learn myself. Service has a way of multiplying far beyond what we can see.

In this article, I reflect on that experience and why I believe **Fundamental #8: Service Is Exponential** is one of the most powerful leadership lessons we can practice.
