DID YOU KNOW?

Toyota-Toyoda....Potato-Potahto

Recently, Lewcom Media had the privilege of teaming up with the Toyoda Gosei group at their San Antonio plant. They're a global manufacturer that makes plastic and rubber parts—many of which go straight into Toyota vehicles. We co-produced a video that highlights some of their latest technology, and it was awesome to see it all in action.

Ever wonder why it's called Toyoda Gosei but they make parts for Toyota?

Here’s a hint and it’s not a typo...

Turns out, the story goes way back. The company that would become Toyota actually started in 1949 with a man named Sakichi Toyoda, who invented automatic looms (yep, weaving machines!). His son, Kiichiro Toyoda, later used that success to start building cars. But when it came time to brand the new car company, they changed the name from Toyoda to Toyota, partly because it sounded smoother and was luckier in Japanese.

So even though the names are different by one letter, they come from the same family legacy. Pretty cool, right?
