Our conversations explore accessibility across the lifespan — including schools, daily living, aging, adaptive gaming, recreation, and community participation.

POTTSBORO AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY SELECTED FOR NATIONAL ONLINE HEALTH LITERACY PILOT PROGRAM

The Pottsboro Area Public Library has been selected to participate in the American Library Association Digital Pathways: Online Health Literacy Programming for Adults initiative, a national pilot program supporting libraries as they expand digital health literacy programming. Chosen through a competitive application process, the Pottsboro Library joins a cohort of just 12 libraries across the country participating in this initiative.
“As a trusted community hub, the Pottsboro Library plays an important role in helping residents connect with reliable healthcare resources and telehealth services,” said Library Director Renee Nichols. “This pilot program allows us to build on that work by offering practical, hands-on programs that help people feel confident navigating their health online.”
During the implementation period, the library will offer a series of focused programs centered on real world digital health skills, including evaluating online health information, and accessing affordable care resources. Programs will be offered in flexible formats, including in-person and in small group sessions during Thursday Tech Talks to ensure accessibility for all participants. These efforts will be integrated into the library’s existing digital inclusion services, including its Digital Navigator program and free telehealth space, which provides a private setting for virtual healthcare appointments. Participants will also have access to one-on-one support to reinforce skills learned during the programs.
The library will receive an $8,000 stipend to support program costs, including hands-on workshops and Tech Talks focused on digital health literacy. Community members can visit pottsborolibrary.com to view upcoming programs and learn more about available digital health resources.
