South Austin Gem is all I can say about this place. The greeting I received walking in the door and the hospitality were a sight to see. I ordered a little bit of everything, known as the Seafood Platter. It included fish, shrimp, oysters, gumbo, cole slaw, fries and beans. It was reasonable too. Only $14.99 for all that food. In making a decision on where to dine for a more date friendly place... You make want to check out ALC, since the atmosphere, location and general mood lead you right into a much needed quality time spent situation. For starters, the appetizer I had was Oysters Texafeller (we dont do Rockefellers down South). It was large oysters with spinach and cheese and a salsa to top it off. Then I ordered the 10 oz. sirloin with a buttery hollandaize (spell check (:/...) It was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful along with the grilled crisp asparagus. Have to say it was pure awesomeness for the evening. Our server, Rachel, did way more than expected and always made us feel like she only had one table to manage. Great place and experience.
