🇨🇦 Solar YYC Brings Award-Winning Solar Innovation to Its Calgary Headquarters
Solar YYC transformed its Calgary, Alberta headquarters into a living showcase for renewable energy, earning top honors in the Commercial category of the 2025 APsystems Canadian Project of the Year Awards.
The 16 kW DC solar awning features 40 south-facing modules that not only generate clean energy but also provide window shading and enhanced comfort for the building's occupants. Designed, engineered, and installed entirely by Solar YYC's in-house team, the project demonstrates how sustainability and architectural design can work hand in hand.
To bring the vision to life, Solar YYC selected APsystems QT2-208 microinverters.
"The size limitations of three-phase string inverters made the QT2 a perfect solution for this smaller array," the team shared. "It allows for optimal performance for the modules located on the west side of the building while giving clients the opportunity to see a microinverter system in action."
By making the microinverters visible beneath the solar awning, the installation doubles as an educational experience, giving visitors a firsthand look at the technology powering the system.
