I went to Pilates this morning and started chatting with the woman working at the front desk.

When she found out I was a dietitian, she immediately told me she’d been trying to find one who accepted her insurance.

She shared that she’d been going to a wellness clinic in the neighborhood looking for help managing her chronic health conditions, but every appointment seemed to turn into a conversation about supplements, IV drips, weight loss medications, red light therapy, and other expensive add-ons. None of those things were what she was looking for.

What she actually wanted was practical support.

Someone to help her figure out what to eat, how to manage her symptoms, and how to make sustainable lifestyle changes that fit into her daily life.

It reminded me how many people don’t realize that registered dietitians are trained to provide medical nutrition therapy for chronic health conditions.

Whether you’re managing digestive issues, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, IBS, fatty liver disease, or another health concern, nutrition care should be individualized, evidence-based, and focused on helping you feel better, not on selling you products.

Don’t get me wrong, there are times when supplements can be helpful. But if you’re spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on supplements, wellness treatments, and protocols without a clear plan for addressing your actual concerns, it may be worth asking if it’s helping.

You deserve support that helps you understand your health, build sustainable habits, and feel confident in your choices.

Have you ever been duped by wellness snake oil clinics?

💁🏽‍♀️ One thing about me: I am a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast.

🧇 Every single morning, I wake up and make the exact same thing. Blueberry buckwheat waffles with peanut butter and maple syrup.

🚘 Not because it’s the “perfect” breakfast, but because it’s familiar, comforting, and one less decision I have to make before getting two kids out the door.

😵‍💫 School mornings can feel like a sprint. Finding shoes, packing lunches, answering 47 questions before I’ve finished my coffee.

☺️ So when I get back from drop-off, I make my second breakfast: cottage cheese, strawberries, h**p seeds, and a drizzle of honey.

🫶🏽 It’s quick, requires zero cooking, gives me some protein, and honestly tastes really good.

✅ I think we underestimate how much nutrition is supported by convenience.

So many people assume healthy eating has to involve elaborate recipes, meal prep containers, or spending hours in the kitchen.

Most days, it’s just finding simple foods you enjoy and eating them consistently.

☕️ And if having something sweet with your coffee makes your morning feel a little easier? That’s okay too.

🙅🏽‍♀️ You’ll never hear guilt or shame coming from this dietitian for choosing the option that helps you nourish yourself and get through a busy day.

✨ Sometimes the most supportive nutrition choice is the one that’s actually realistic for your life.

Now I need to know: are you a “same breakfast every day” person or do you need variety? 👇🏽
