🌿 Nature holds stories everywhere — in forests, rivers, and sacred sites rooted in memory, culture, and connection to the land.
Re:wild is celebrates the Native Toponymy project in San Basilio de Palenque 🇨🇴 where Afro-Colombian communities are reclaiming traditional names across 8,000 acres (3,300 hectares) of cultural territory. Founded by people who freed themselves from enslavement, San Basilio de Palenque became the first free Black town in the Americas.
By documenting sacred sites, community spaces, and traditional landmarks, this work is also helping protect Colombia’s tropical dry forests, one of the country’s most threatened ecosystems.
With leadership from the Palenquero community and technical support from and , this effort continues to expand to other Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities across Colombia. Re:wild is a proud supporter of this project together with .

🦬 “If there’s no environment, there’s no human race,” said Ted Turner, one of the planet’s boldest conservationists. His remarkable life and conservation legacy live on in the landscapes he helped restore and the species his work protected. 🌾
From helping protect millions of acres of grasslands across North America to restoring American Bison herds and championing environmental action on a global stage, his vision helped bring conservation into the mainstream and inspired generations to think bigger about what’s possible. 🌎
Today we reflect on Ted Turner’s philanthropy, storytelling, and relentless belief in bold action. He helped drive meaningful conservation progress that will benefit people, wildlife, and ecosystems for generations to come.
🐺 The wild is wilder because of Ted!

Baird’s Tapirs are more than a species—they’re a force for regeneration.
This World Tapir Day, we’re celebrating the work of Bairds Tapir Survival Alliance, a powerful example of what’s possible when organizations come together with shared expertise, align around a common goal, and prioritize the species above individual recognition.
Across Mesoamerica, this alliance is proving that real impact happens through collaboration—when knowledge is shared, efforts are connected, and competition takes a back seat.
Proud to support this work because protecting tapirs means protecting connection.
