Have you seen it yet? Artist Cande Aguilar is showing “It’s only barrioPOP but I like it” at the grayDUCK Gallery here in Austin!
*
This exciting and energetic showcase of color, shape, and design is a wonderful wakeup call out of Winter and into Spring!
*
“barrioPOP therefore can be understood as pop art through a particular south Texas, Mexican American lens that takes us on a ride that might not be posh, but it will get us there with its own unique style. Cande's work is rooted in a Rio Grande Valley, "pull yourself up from your bootstraps and make do with what you have,” kind of feel that translates well through his use of found objects.”
*
This show cannot be missed so make sure you add it to your to-do list! Make an appointment on the grayDUCK website and also find an audio file of artist Cande Aguilar at the bottom of the exhibition page where he talks about his work!

Open by appointment, CAMIBAart Gallery has just opened their latest show! “Since Last We Met” is a show from Jen Rose which will run until May 15th.
*
Known for her porcelain creations, Dallas based artist Jen Rose found new inspiration in a Leclerc table loom she rescued from the curb while on a walk in her neighborhood last April. The resulting exhibition “Since Last We Met” showcases her astonishing imagination and masterful technical skill while reflecting the uncertainty and ever-changing reality of the pandemic year in which they were created.
*
Additionally, join the gallery on YouTube on May 8th at 2:15pm for an “Artist Talk and Gallery Walk” to explore the show virtually! Make your appointment now to see this stunning collection of work by visiting the CAMIBAart Gallery website and finding more information there.
