The Table Network
Our last Table Network panel got into something a lot of us feel but don't say out loud: we're dying for real friendship.
David Cherry and Zac laid out why it matters more than we tend to think.
Chronic loneliness is as hard on your body as smoking a pack of ci******es a day.
The World Health Organization ties hundreds of thousands of deaths a year to loneliness and isolation. As David put it — it's either take up smoking, or go find a friend.
And here's the strange part: we're more digitally connected than we've ever been, and lonelier than we've ever been. AI can keep us company now. It still can't be the person you call at 2 in the morning.
That's the friend we're all really after. Not a long list of them. One or two people you'd drop everything for, no questions asked, if the phone rang late at night.
This isn't just personal. Loneliness costs US companies around $154 billion a year — lost productivity, more people calling out, higher turnover. One real friend at work changes all of it. People show up, they stay, they actually want to be there.
We were built for this. For each other.
→ If you've been wanting real connection like this, come be part of it. Our next Table Network gathering is July 23.
