This job involves lots of time on the road traveling to various destinations across Texas and the southern United States. I truly believe music is what makes the soul go. I have various playlists for various drives, I remove or skip songs here and there (the RHCP are my favorite but I’m not listening to Under the Bridge on the way to take an op**te user to detox) I always start every drive with “Wake up Everybody” by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, featuring the incomparable Teddy Pendergrass. What are some of your favorite lift me up songs if you will? And no Evanescence does not have lift up songs.

I got to do something a little different this weekend. Took a client already in treatment to his grandfathers funeral in Houston. It was a long emotional day, but this client got to show up for his family (his mom in particular). That was cool enough, the coolest part is the family welcomed me as part one of their own. We broke bread twice, I got to chat with several of his old squad mates from Vietnam. The man was a Colonel and an airborne ranger. He opened up an international border crossing in Pharr, TX. It was an honor to be allowed to honor him. It’s drives like these that make this gig worth it. There is no trip or event too big or small for JW Transport.
