Inspired by the destroyed Bamiyan Buddhas, Vietnamese-American artist Tuan Andrew Nguyen unveiled The Light That Shines Through the Universe on New Yorkโs High Line in April 2026. The sculpture reimagines the ancient Salsal Buddha of Bamiyan as a symbol of memory, loss, and renewal.
In Buddhism there is no eternal judge who decides your fate. The Buddha taught that your actions and intentions shape your experience through karma. Karma is not punishment from a god. It is the natural result of what you choose to think say and do.
