This Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Equity Kids honors Patsy Mink, the first woman of color and first Asian-American woman elected to Congress. As the champion of Title IX, Mink revolutionized the American educational system by prohibiting sex-based discrimination and ensuring gender is not a barrier to opportunity. Her legacy of advocacy opened doors for generations of students, and by celebrating trailblazers like Mink, we at Equity Kids continue our commitment to shaping a more equitable and fair future for all children.

"Seeing the impact that it's created — our father-daughter relationship, being a Black dad and daughter — has really put into perspective how important representation is in what we do." Aura Valentina Simmons, aka Aura V, and her father, Harold Simmons II, made history at the Grammy's this year, with Aura V at 8 years old becoming the youngest person to ever win a Grammy award. Aura V and her father won best children's album for their music about inclusion, love, and positivity.
In "I Am Love, I Am Light," Aura sings, "I love myself, I love me."
"I like to sing about that because it's empowering," Aura said. "It gives hope to people."
