This was a tough read today. Tough because I know my grandparents never had the chance to grow old on their land, among their trees, among their people and a culture they knew. They were forced to leave all they knew. Forced to find and make new family members in unfamiliar lands. Forced to learn a new culture and start fresh. They wouldn’t know it (but likely would not be surprised) that most of their children would never get the chance to set foot on their land. They might also not be surprised to know that their grandchildren pray for a day they could visit the land of their ancestors but sadly may only have that chance in Jennah (paradise) inshaAllah.

There is no tree with my name on it in Palestine. My tree was uprooted with my grandparents. Palestine didn’t get the chance to learn my name. But I know Falesteen’s name and my heart aches to be reunited with her. And so as so beautifully reminds us, we continue to learn her stories and tell her stories (and retell them again and again and again) so future generations will always know her name even though the world wishes us to forget her.

“The old will die, and the young will forget.”

Let us show our resistance and never forget ♥️

🌙 Ramadan Spirit 🌙

It’s beginning to look a lot like Ramadan 😏🎉

Decorating our home for Ramadan has been a family tradition for as long as my kids can remember. It’s pure joy for them. They don’t even moan when they drag up our bins from the basement.

On cue, my 12 year old sets the mood with anasheed playing while we carefully decide where each piece gets placed. Well, some of us carefully, others haphazardly 😏. But that’s okay. That’s when I allow Type A me to take a backseat because if my 10 year old thinks our suncatchers look best on the corner of our wall and not on our windows as they’re designed to be, then that is where that suncatcher shall live this Ramadan. ☺️

And my 6 six year old runs around searching for the bags of candy that I’ll eventually fill their advent calendars with. He’s more about the sugar than the decorating. 🍭🍬

And their excitement is all that matters at this moment.

We are beyond excited to announce the SECOND book that will be part of this year’s Ramadan busy box! The story of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) written by Humera Malik. One of the reasons we loved this book for Ramadan is the format-30 stories for 30 nights; what better Ramadan routine than spending a few minutes each day learning about our beloved Prophet?

You’ll see throughout the box that what we try to emphasize is that the path to success for a Muslim is more about the small, yet consistent acts that we do each and every day rather than the grandiose acts that happen once in a lifetime. Ramadan is all about building habits that last beyond it and we hope that this book will spark a love of learning in our young ones. ⭐️ 🌙 🕌 ✨ 🕋
