Some people with hearing or speech loss have difficulty using a traditional telephone. Instead, many of these individuals enrich their lives by utilizing specialized telephones such as Teletypewriters (TTY) and other devices to
place calls through a telephone relay service (TRS) such as Relay Texas. Relay services allow the user to communicate with friends, loved ones, business associates, and service providers so they may participate in daily community life.
How to use Speech-to-Speech (STS):
- Dial 711
- Give the relay operator the number you wish to dial.
- Talk on the call.
- The relay operator will re-voice your spoken words, when needed for clarity.
- The other party talks directly to you.
- When you’re ready to end the call, simply hang up.
