Now is the perfect time to remind food workers to stay alert for symptoms that should be reported before starting a shift.

If you experience any of the following, talk to your manager immediately:

āš ļø Diarrhea

āš ļø Jaundice

āš ļø Fever or sore throat with fever

āš ļø Uncovered wounds with pus

Each year, foodborne illnesses affect 1 in 6 Americans, resulting in more than 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths. This month is a reminder that safe food handling practices are critical to keeping our communities healthy.

The FDA's Food Facts: Safe Food Handling infographic highlights four essential steps:
