Honestly, you could show up to the hospital with nothing but your beautiful self and still leave with the most important thing, your baby. The hospital provides all the essentials: a gown, mesh panties, pads, extra toiletries, baby needs. So, then what do you need to pack? My recommendation is to focus more about bringing pieces of comfort, home, and you into this big, life changing experience. 5️⃣ Your own toiletries. There is something special about the first shower after birth. It’s magical, but it’s even better with your favorite body wash and your own shampoo and conditioner. 4️⃣Pajamas/loungewear. Once the birthing is done, it’s time to rest and recover. During this time you want to feel comfy! I loved having my cute Jammies, breastfeeding tips, but my favorite was my husband’s tee shirt and some athletic shorts. Just made me feel like home. 3️⃣Long charging cable. The beds are massive and far from the outlets often. You need at least a 10 foot cord to plug in your phone where you can still relax while keeping in touch with family, scrolling through babymommadoc_ on insta and sharing pictures of your sweet bundle of joy!! 2️⃣ Comfy footwear. For me it was hard bottom slippers, but for many it’s slides. You want something easy to slip on and off to walk to the bathroom, around the room, etc that’s easy and comfy cause, trust me, hospital floors are icky! And the most important thing to pack: 1️⃣🥇 A beach towel!!! Seriously. Imagine you get out of your first postpartum shower and you reach for a towel. What you grab though is a rough, white hotel-like towel that doesn’t even wrap around your new mom- bod. Bringing a high, soft beach towel gave me the comfort to leave the shower fully wrapped in soft warmth and full coverage.
