HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!

To help celebrate the USA's 250th, we added a S'mores bar to help customers add to their July 4th celebration. Needless to say, it's a hit! Try to stay cool, and have a Happy 4th of July holiday, everyone!

Congrats to Al Cloutier for receiving the 2026 Larry LaBrie Award from the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (Maine IAAA) and the Maine Principals' Association (MPA) Thursday evening (5/21) in a ceremony held at Jeff's Catering in Brewer.

Al, who became AFB's Warehouse Manager in 2020 after a 40-year career with Central Maine Power, has dedicated more than 50 years to area youth in the Augusta and central Maine area as a baseball coach, basketball official, and his long association in leadership roles with CARA: (Capital Area Recreation Association) and Augusta Babe Ruth.

"This award recognizes Al's decades of lasting contributions to sports in the state, particularly in Augusta. The Larry LaBrie Award recognizes someone for their contributions to the (MPA's Interscholastic Division. Al has been a fixture in Augusta baseball for over 50 years as a player, Cony High School baseball coach, American Legion coach, and Babe Ruth League director."

Those attending the ceremony included members of Al's family (including his mother, Terry on his left, and his sister Lina on his right), along with good friends Steve Brooks, Mike Bechard, and Harry Lanphear.

Congratulations again, Al. Thousands of youth athletes have benefited from your lifetime of selfless dedication to them. We thank you!

Wow - This year's Stamp Out Hunger - another huge success!

USPS annual food drive netted the AFB more than 4,500 lbs. (!) of shelf-stable, non-perishable food items. A huge debt of gratitude to the USPS carriers for their efforts, and to Augusta and Manchester residents who provided thousands of items to fill our shelves.

Thanks also to Connected Credit Union's Wendy Brochu and Kerri Abbott, who joined with AFB volunteers and staff - rolling up their sleeves to sort and stock items.

Truly a community-wide effort that will help put food on the tables for so many - THANK YOU!
