Waldo County is home to so many beautiful places to walk, hike and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you’re visiting a local trail, exploring a preserve or just taking a few minutes outside, today is a good reminder of how lucky we are to live in Maine.

On this day in 1944, Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy in one of the most consequential moments of World War II.

We remember the courage of those who served, the sacrifice of those who never came home, and the responsibility we share to protect the freedoms they fought for.
