Hey Everyone!
So a little backstory to fill you all in. 3 baseball season's ago (2024) my son wanted to play baseball and we signed him up with out local youth program. At the time we didn't know that they only went to age 8 and at age 9 he was still able to play with the group below him. We had a great season and learned that baseball came to him so naturally. After the season ended, I asked our youth president if they were able to bring back the older group to our town and he was going to work on it. Fast forward to baseball season 2025 and we signed up for Little League in Augusta because our town didn't offer it again. It was a great season again, me learning so much more about our local programs. We were on the winning Minor team and was amazing!
At the end of the season, I joined the CALL board members to help prepare for 2026 season. In March, after some tough decisions I stepped away from the board but was unexpectedly refunded my sponsorship and not assigned a team to help coach. So I reached out to the town above us (China) to see if they needed sponsors and coaches even though it was late in the season already. I was welcomed aboard with open arms. This was one of the best decisions I could of made because I learned even more. China works with Cal Ripken instead of Little League and regulations aren't as strict.
After working really hard the last month, the president of Windsor Youth Association has announced they will be bringing Minors and Majors back to Windsor next year 2027 for kids ages 9-12. They haven't had this options for almost a decade. However, this also means that the fields haven't been fully maintained this entire time. Some work needs to be done this summer/fall to get things ready for a spring start. So I have created an LPS Community Project section to gather donations for future projects, currenlty helping Windsor Youth Association get the fields ready for a great baseball season spring of 2027.
At the current moment, LPS has already donated $1500 worth of needed equipment to the project including catchers gear for both minor and major teams. New dragging/leveling equipment for the fields, new breakaway bases needed for that level of players, new chalk machine, new batting cage with block for pitching, new manual pitching machine, teaching nets/mats for practice and more things are still in need.
The lawn mower just doesn't work anymore and need a used/newer one to mow and drag/level the fields. The concession stand, equipment shed and away dugout all need carpentry repairs. The equipment shed is leaking so the roof needs some fixing. The fields needs some proper sand delivered as everytime its been donated its been driveway dirt with rocks and that hurts to slide on. We still need umpire gear for the games and basic things like official game balls, chalk during the season.
LPS is currently cordinating a couple summer clinics for the kids. During the clinic's we'd like to set up a concession stand to bring in some funding but need to start somewhere. So some donations to start the concession stand would be a major help. We are looking to do the clinic's on July 26th and August 2nd, so right around the corner. There is a link at the below where you can leave donations to the LPS Community Project. Again, all donations and proceeds to this fund will be going to help the Windsor Youth 2027 Baseball.
Thank you everyone who has already heard about my project and asked for the link to donated to! I also hope everyone has an absolutely amazing Fourth of July, 250th Independence Day!
