Developing explosive qualities should be a primary focus for golfers. Jumping, throwing and sprinting all work very well!
Whilst in elite athletes we have to be quite deliberate in scheduling power development, in the general population there is no reason why power training can’t feature in every session.
This is for two reasons. 1) you are likely not having to manage high level competition, jet lag, PR commitments and the stress of earning a living via golf!
And 2) you are more than likely a long way from your physical ceiling, so developing a number of athletic qualities is likely to work quite well.
The “Dead start jump” (friendly name for non-counter movement jump with arm swing 🤣) features in the latest Athletic Golf home programme and is a great option for power development.
