Keeping 8,800 miles of roads clean and clear of debris is no small task and it's happening every single day. From picking up litter to removing obstructions, our crews are out there working hard to keep our roads safe and our transportation system moving. Their dedication often happens behind the scenes, but it makes a difference for everyone who travels our roads.

On June 24th, we celebrated a major investment at Cape Porpoise Pier in Kennebunkport, which is one of Maine’s busiest fishing ports. MaineDOT is proud to have played a role in funding this project, alongside federal and local partners, through our Small Harbor Improvement Program (SHIP) and the Working Waterfront Grant Program. The project raised the pier by 2 feet, expanded the southern pier, added a new float system, rebuilt the northern float system, and installed all-new diesel and gasoline fueling systems. It also delivered a new refrigerated bait storage facility, a workshop space for the harbormaster, and relocated the harbormaster’s office to the second floor for improved visibility and resilience versus flooding. These improvements will help strengthen the future of Cape Porpoise’s working waterfront for years to come.

A quick errand can turn dangerous fast. Always check the back seat for children and pets before you walk away from your car. Stop. Look. Lock.
