The Builder

Hello Augusta Photography Group,

I am truly flattered and honored that you are interested in featuring my photo on your page and possibly in your global Photo of the Week newsletter! Photography has always been a passion of mine, and I recently made the exciting transition from the IT industry to pursue it full-time.

This particular photo was taken with my Nikon D50 using a Quantaray 70-300 mm lens, with camera settings of ISO 400, Aperture 3.2, and a Shutter Speed of 1/15. I used PicArt to edit the photo, applying the Oil Painting feature at 25 percent. Initially, I aimed to capture the dew drops on the spiderweb that stretched from the bushes to our mailbox. Still, I unfortunately waited too long, and the dew had already dissipated. Fortunately, I discovered the spider was still active, allowing me to capture this moment, which I?ve titled "The Builder."

This yellow-crowned night heron was first preening itself prior to engaging in the hunt. As it was hunting its favorite food, it gobbled up several for a hearty meal and this photo showcases its ferocious hunger.

Phenix City, AL

The area has a great blue heron rookery where these chicks were nesting. They were standing upright, necks outstretched observing and waiting for the parent to return to the nest to give them some morsels.
