Dale County’s 4-H CAMPLIFY was a huge success! Now in its eighth year, this weeklong day camp helps amplify life skills and environmental education through hands-on learning.
Throughout the week, 4-H campers explored agriculture, conservation, wildlife, food safety, forestry, and science. They learned about hydroponic lettuce, peanuts, tractors, farm animals, soil layers, beekeeping, poultry processing, safe cooking, and local food systems. Campers also connected with nature by studying reptiles, amphibians, raptors, and forest ecosystems while building teamwork skills through movement challenges and interactive activities.
A highlight of the camp was a visit from the Auburn University Raptor Center, where campers learned about owls, hawks, falcons, and, of course, eagles.
Thanks to generous donations and sponsorships, campers were able to enjoy this experience at no personal cost. Dale County Extension agents are already planning for next year.

Bring a touch of the tropics to your own backyard!
Hibiscus plants are known for their glossy green leaves and large, colorful blooms in shades of red, gold, orange, yellow, pink, white, and blue. Whether planted in containers around patios and pools or added directly to the landscape, these eye-catching plants can make a bold summer statement.
Some hardy hibiscus varieties can grow up to 8 feet tall and produce blooms 6 to 12 inches across. These giant flowers are sure to turn heads — and they are also magnets for hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees.
