It’s ID Days at SieMatic!

Last night was the big party launching the annual SieMatic ID Days, an exhibition every year at the factory here in Löhne, Germany. For two days we’re immersed in the latest design and product innovation and also connected with each other personally as we can only do here at the source of all things kitchen by SieMatic.

A new construction project designed during the pandemic with all of us still in masks came to life late last year and I finally got yo see it and spend some time with our clients in situ.

It’s rare that I get to design a 2-island kitchen. It often seems like the idea will work and clients love the concept, but I have always believed that form follows function. And that means the architecture of the room and the lifestyle of our client open the possibility to such a layout. The “galley” between the islands becomes a hub around which the other functions orbit, and the sequence of making a meal, which could have been a trek, is focused between the islands. SieMatic SLX lighted channels on front and back of both islands bring the heart of the home to life. And the contrast of the tall SieMatic wood grain concealing all except the 5 Gaggenau appliances warms the room up and creates texture. #siematicofficial #gaggenauofficial
